Two women were the victims of sex attacks following the Millennium celebrations in Edinburgh.
LED Light Bulb SP50-3WA 19-year-old woman from New Zealand was sexually assaulted by a man who offered to show her the way to a police station after she lost some items from her handbag.
And in a separate incident a 23-year-old Danish woman was indecently assaulted after she became separated from her friends.
Lothian and Borders Police were investigating both attacks, which were not linked, and appealed for witnesses.
Officers said the New Zealand woman, who had been working as a waitress in the city for several months and was due to return home soon, had been subjected to a serious sexual assault. She had lost some property from her handbag while celebrating with friends in the High Street at about 5am on January 1.

He then turned on her and sexually assaulted her. She fought back and police believe the culprit may have sustained some injuries.
The suspect is described as being between 22 and 26-years-old, 6ft 2inches tall, with broad shoulders and a slim build.
A police spokesman said: "This was a harrowing and frightening experience for the young woman who had come to Edinburgh to enjoy the celebrations."
The Danish victim, a tourist visiting Edinburgh for the Hogmanay celebrations, was
embroidered patches attacked after becoming separated from her friends during the early hours of January 1.
They had taken the precaution of arranging a meeting point at Roseburn should they lose each other and a man offered to take her there in his car.
The two walked towards the New Town where the culprit unlocked his car and got in. When the woman got in she discovered that the man was exposing himself.
She managed to break free and got out of the car but fell over, badly grazing her cheek and top lip.
The culprit is described as being aged about 30, with dark skin and possibly of Turkish or Algerian appearance.
He had a Scottish accent, short dark wavy hair and was wearing a light blue sweater and blue jeans.
A police spokesman said the assault had happened at about 1am.
